First of all you wouldn't have to pay for licensing.
Also you could make up skills that would suit the player and you wouldn't have to change them based on real life goings on. It would be up to the manager to train certain aspects.

It also would be nice to have an Assistant Manager telling you what your team did good or bad in the match. Thats what i think sm lacks when you lose you often dont know whats wrong.
